Pronouns: she/her/hers

Hi everyone! My name is Candace Teague; my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am from Denver, Colorado, and I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in the spring of 2018. I discovered genetic counseling during a genetics course in my undergraduate career. I was awestruck at the possibilities genetic counseling could provide to patients while increasing their quality of life. Since graduating, I have earned a graduate certificate from the University of Colorado in Personalized and Genomic Medicine. I obtained my board certification as a medical technologist through ASCP in Molecular Biology. I am ecstatic to continue my education at UNCG.

In undergrad, I spent a fair amount of time working full-time in various aspects of customer service while participating in the National Society of Student Leadership and Success program and being an active member of MSU Denver’s Chemistry Club. Although I am not a beer fan, I learned how to brew coffee milk stouts and have enjoyed drinking stouts ever since! As a Colorado native, I doubt you would be shocked to know I love the outdoors, hiking, camping, and backpacking; most of all, I enjoy being in the mountains.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, exploring new cuisines, and spending time with friends and family when possible, and I love movies! Please feel free to ask any questions about UNCG’s Genetic Counseling program or the various pursuits mentioned above!
