Shannon Morrill-Cornelius and family

Shannon spent her first three years after graduation working in pediatric genetics at the University of Kentucky. She then joined the team at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY and practiced cancer and prenatal genetic counseling. In 2010, Shannon joined Danbury Hospital and Western Connecticut Health Network to create their Genetic Counseling Program, focusing on oncology and maternal fetal medicine. After 6 years of managing that growing program, Shannon took the opportunity to move back to her hometown in central Vermont and joined Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in oncology. In 2019, Shannon made what she hopes will be her final move, and joined the team at InformedDNA in the Utilization Management Division. Now she works from home (often in pajamas,) loves her demanding but flexible work! Shannon’s husband Brad is an ICU nurse who spent most of 2020 traveling to Long Island, NY, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Burlington, VT, to work in make-shift Covid-19 units. He is home now and back at the local VA ICU. This is great, since their two boys, Sawyer, 13, and Cooper, 8, missed him SO MUCH. The boys play soccer three seasons per year and ski all winter. The family has three dogs and two cats and they breed border collies in the 198 year old Vermont farmhouse they bought to restore last year. To add to the chaos, Shannon and Brad also are foster parents, so there is always 1-2 babies or toddlers on hips! Oh, and Shannon was elected to the local school board last year! If you want to know anything about working for IDNA, participating in local government service, or being a foster parent, Shannon says she has had amazing mentors and is happy to talk to folks about it! You can reach her at [email protected].
