Brief Bio

Hi everyone! My name is Colton Rathbun and I am from Bowling Green, KY. I attended Western Kentucky University (WKU) and graduated in 2018 with degrees in Biology and Psychology, with a minor in Organizational Leadership. After graduating, I began working at a psychiatric hospital where I assisted mostly adolescents in their treatment, which were varying degrees of mental health concerns and behavioral problems. After three years there, I then started working at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a Genetic Counseling Assistant for their Pediatric Genetics Division. There, I had the opportunity to learn clinic flow, help with testing strategies and implementations, prepare certain cases for clinic, and much more. I found out about Genetic Counseling late in college and really went back and forth on if it was the right path for me. After a few years of searching out Genetic Counselors to talk with and finding opportunities for conferences, I knew this was the career for me, and I couldn’t be happier to be here!

In my free time, you can find me hanging out with friends (and family if I’m back in Kentucky), watching something on Netflix, or just getting involved in whatever is going on in Greensboro. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at [email protected]. I would be happy to help in any way I can!
