Hi everyone! My name is Tori Owens, and I am from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I discovered genetic counseling during a high school biology course and quickly became passionate about the unique opportunity genetic counseling provides for connecting with patients. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in the spring of 2023, and I am thrilled to continue my education at UNCG.

During my time in undergrad, I worked as a hotline advocate for the Compass Center, an organization that provides support and resources for survivors of domestic violence. Additionally, I spent a year as Vice President of Philanthropy for my Greek organization, facilitating fundraisers and service opportunities to aid survivors of domestic violence in the Chapel Hill community. I also taught dance at a local studio and enjoyed being part of a club dance team on campus. One unique thing about my undergraduate experience was that I had the opportunity to create my own genetic counseling major in the Interdisciplinary Studies department at UNC!

In my free time, you can find me trying a new restaurant with friends, exploring local coffee shops, or going on a run. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions about UNCG’s program, the field of genetic counseling, or life in Greensboro!
