Courtney Rowe-Teeter and family

After graduating in 2005, Courtney started a Cancer Genetics Clinic at the Thompson Cancer Survival Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. She conferred often with other UNCG alumni, Andrea Durst, Jill Polk and Shelly Galasinski who were also starting cancer clinics, and they learned a lot together in those first few years. She grew the clinic to the point of adding a second GC in 2008. Courtney and her husband Ben enjoyed their time in Knoxville, including welcoming their daughter Sophia in 2009.

Courtney and family were long-term considering a move back to the San Francisco Bay Area to be close to family. In 2013 Courtney was fortunate to be offered a position with the Stanford Cancer Genetics Clinic. It was a big transition from small out-patient cancer center to large academic medical center, but she has enjoyed the growth she has experienced working in this setting. It has allowed her the opportunity to see a wider variety of indications, to be a consistent supervisor for the Stanford program and the privilege to work alongside a growing number of incredibly supportive colleagues. Most recently she has enjoyed co-starting a FORCE hereditary cancer support group for the San Jose area.
